Excitement, Anticipation, Celebration and then... Horror, Heartbreak, Terror, Bewilderment.
That was the order of emotions that we went through yesterday as many of us spent the first half of the day tracking our friends and loved ones we knew were running in the Boston Marathon. Anxiously sitting by the computer watching the times come through and watching the elation as people crossed the finish line of America's first Marathon. We were suddenly bombarded with messages and updates stating that there had been 2 explosions at the Boston Marathon Finish line!! WHAT!? WHY!? WHO!?
At first, I was worried about my friends who were running and their spouses and family members who were there spectating. Once I found out they were all OK,my worry turned to ANGER! Who would be sick enough to do something like this and WHY!? As my stomach churned with angry emotions I saw a quote that I have seen before but stuck me hard this time:
There is still GOOD in this world!! As I re-watch the footage of the first explosion I watch all of the people who came RUNNING into the danger zone to help, not knowing if their life was in danger, and only worried about helping the victims. I think of all of the thousands of people who are grateful to be alive today, who were walking by the site of the explosions only moments before, how blessed they are. So many have so much to be thankful for!
I don't know why and will definitly never understand or comprehend why bad people do these bad things but I do know that; out of tragedy, arises stronger, more determined, and united people. These terrorists whoever they are are NOT going to intimidate us! We will keep going, racing, running and enjoying our freedoms, regardless of how hard they try to diminish our spirit!
Our hearts, thoughts, and prayers go out to those who are not feeling very grateful today, those who are injured and who have lost loved ones. We pray that they will be comforted and find some peace.
I encourage everyone to RUN FOR BOSTON today! BE THE GOOD IN THIS WORLD!
